Cornerstone’s Michigan area branches celebrated the holiday season by organizing a day of giving. Employees from Cadillac, Marlette, and Davison spent the day together donating their time, talents and gifts to Whaley Children’s Center, Eastern Michigan Food Bank, the Humane Society of Genesee County, and the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw.

“Cornerstone is so much more than putting people to work”, says Steve Drexel, president and CEO of Cornerstone Staffing Solutions. “The staff at Cornerstone looks for opportunities to contribute wherever we are needed in the communities we’re privileged to serve.”

The team first spent the morning making blankets for the children at Whaley Children’s Center then delivered the blankets along with an MP3 player for each child. Next they headed to the Michigan Food Bank to sort and package nearly 10,000 pounds of food and products for distribution throughout the community. After a quick bite to eat, the employees stopped at PetSmart to purchase items for the Humane Society of Genesee County. Finally, gift bags filled with books, movies, playing cards, writing materials, stamps and snacks were delivered to the Aleda E. Lutz VA Hospital in Saginaw.

“Several of the employees mentioned how amazing the day was and they truly enjoyed doing such great things for the community,” stated Brenda Self, Central Regional Director for Cornerstone. “Our employees know it’s important to make an impact in our community through volunteerism and giving back. We’ll definitely do this event again next year!”
